How long does a session take?
Each session is special and customized to the client, so it does vary. However, primarily, sessions usually fall into an hour and a half to two hours except for event photography.
Do you have a makeup artist or hairstylist?
While I do not have an "official" makeup artist or hairstylist I retain on staff, I do have a few favorite folks I work with and love recommending to clients! A few of them would be LVV Artistry, Katherine Violette and Jessica St. Beauty!
What's your turnaround time/when can I see my photos?
Since each session differs and is customized to your needs, it depends on the type of session you have booked and the length of the shoot. Timing to complete turnaround on images can range from 2 to 5 weeks. Please note, the timing quoted is from the point you make your final decisions on edits if you chose or were presented that option. (This is discussed when booking.) For event photography, please give 8 to 12 weeks for completed images. Regardless of the time, I always keep clients in the loop on the timing of the completed edits. Rush editing may be available, for an additional processing fee.
Can I share my images on social media?
Of course! Giving credit is awesome- please don’t forget to tag Kat Lucille Photography on Facebook, or @katlucillephoto on Instagram!
How will I receive my photos?
You will receive your images via a private gallery or a Dropbox link for proofs and edits.
Are you available for travel?
For the right projects and clients, I am available to travel the tri-state area. For any kind of destination events, please feel free to contact and discuss.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Kat Lucille Photography accepts cash, Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, personal check, and most major credit cards via Square. (Please note, any credit card payments will be charged state tax.) I also offer payment plans. Please feel free to contact me to discuss.
Do you require a deposit?
To secure your shoot time, I require a 25% non-refundable retainer on all standard sessions and $250.00 retainer on all event sessions. If you are utilizing a payment plan, I require 15% to begin your plan. This ensures that your date and time will be held and no one else may schedule that time frame.
Can I bring someone with me?
Of course! I do understand how it can be nerve-wracking stepping in front of the camera, especially if you have never done so before. I simply ask that you let me know beforehand and that you choose someone who will not disrupt the shoot.
Do you edit the photos yourself?
Yes, I do edit the images myself – however, I am very upfront on saying I am a photographer, not a Photoshop artist. I will happily fix any blemishes, dark circles, and the like, but I will not make you thinner/taller/curvier, etc. I feel people should be empowered by who they are. I believe everyone is beautiful in their own right and should be proud of it.
I don't know anything about posing and I'm really nervous- can you help me?
Of course! I have experience being on the other side of the lens myself and understand how nerve-wracking it can be. I am more than happy to assist you in posing. I also have the tendency to play music during shoots- so if you have a preference of genre, please let me know! I do my best to help keep you comfortable and in the zone.
How many photographers do we get?
How many photographers you get depends upon what package you book with me. I highly prefer to shoot with one other trusted colleague, to ensure that you receive as much coverage as possible for your event.
Do you hold wedding dates?
Due to the nature of weddings, I am unable to hold a date without a contract and retainer.
Do you charge a travel fee?
Travel fees for up to the first 25 miles are already included in your total contract price. Anything over 25 miles will be added on.
How much do you charge for additional coverage beyond the contract?
Due to the nature of event shooting, I charge an additional $250 per hour that goes beyond the contract. If I have a second shooter with me, it is $350 per hour.
How far in advance should we book our wedding with you?
To be able to ensure that you are able to book your date, I recommend discussing and booking your wedding at least 6 to 8 months prior to though at least a year is preferable. However, I have booked weddings a month out before! So always feel free to ask if I have a date available!
Can we customize our package?
Of course! I have generalized packages to make it easy for clients or to use as a basis, but each package can be customized to your specific needs. Please reach out and discuss with me so we may create your perfect package!
So-and-so is a photographer, do you mind if they take photos too?
While I understand guests’ desires to take images as well, I ask that no one other than myself and my second shooter take images during the pre-wedding, formal sessions, and ceremony- not even cell phone images. This ensures that you receive the best possible images as guests often do not realize and can step into a frame. These moments only happen once – you don’t want the disruption!
Do you photograph LGBTQ+ Weddings?
1000000000000000% YES. I would be honored to shoot your wedding. Please do not hesitate to reach out!!
How far in advance should we book our session?
Since many couples like to use their engagement session photos to create “Save the Date” cards or Thank You cards, I recommend booking your shoot 6 months to a year before your wedding date.
I'm planning on proposing soon - Can we have it happen during the shoot without my partner(s) knowing it's coming?
I LOVE shooting surprise proposal sessions. We absolutely can! Just give me a private heads up either before the shoot date itself, or while we are there, so I can be ready to capture the moment!
Do you photograph polyamorous and non-traditional relationships?
You bet I do! Whether you are a monogamous couple, an open relationship, a triad, or a polyamorous group - I love love!
Can you help us pick a place?
I am more than happy to help you decide on where you would like to shoot! When we have our consultation, we will discuss options and places that appeal to you. Remember, the shoot is about you two (or three, or four) as a couple/relationship- you want to find something or someplace to show who you are together!
Should I get my hair and makeup done? Do you have someone to do it for me?
As with any shoot, I recommend having any maintenance to your hair and nails done prior to the shoot- touch-ups, high lights, dye jobs, etc. Having your hair styled or makeup application is completely up to you. Many women (and men) trust themselves to do their own hair and makeup while others would prefer a professional to do so. This is something we can discuss during your consultation. While I do not retain a hairstylist or makeup artist on staff, I work with several trusted professionals who would be happy to help for an additional, separate fee.
